The Vulcain Cricket, introduced in 1947, was the first mechanical alarm wristwatch capable of producing an audible alarm thanks to its double resonating case. Its distinctive sound, similar to a cricket's chirp, gave it its name. It was adopted by several United States presidents, earning it the nickname «the watch of the presidents».
